This is a site for launching hand-carried boats such as canoes or kayaks.

Comments & Overview:

In theory it should be possible to paddle from this put-in down the Beaver River to the Pawcatuck River a little above Shannock Falls. It is only about 4 miles from Route 138 to the Pawcatuck but the river is only likely to be high enough to float a boat in the spring when the river is high, and it is very likely that there will be numerous blowdowns across the river, so progress down river could be very slow and hazardous. We would welcome reports from anyone who has actually paddled the Beaver River.

This area is stocked with trout several times throughout the year.

This site provides access to the following water bodies in the Pawcatuck River watershed: Beaver River.

Location:

Town: Richmond

Driving Landmarks: From Interstate 95 north or south take Exit 3A for South Kinstown and Route 138 east. This will put you on Route 138 east. In 2 miles, at the junction with Route 112, bear left to stay on Route 138 east towards URI and Newport. Go another 1.9 miles and look for the DEM sign for "Beaver River Fishing Access" on the right just after Beaver River Road.
